Take a seat in the comfortable lounge with its squashy leather chairs, fireside sheep and cushion-laden sofas. Browse through the latest magazines and ask one of our attentive and helpful staff to bring you tea, coffee or a drink from the bar at any time of day. Alternatively you may choose the library bar with its candle-lit tables and unbelievably comfortable settees. A hot toddy by the cheerful wood-burning stove with two black fireside sheep for company will always warm away the winter blues!
When the weather is enticing the covered veranda and the elegant fountain terrace will entrance you with its spectacular views of mountains and forests with the tidal Conwy river in the foreground surrounded by our famous Welsh sheep grazing the salt marshes. It is a view to savour with morning coffee, afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks.
Graded five star by both Visit Wales and the AA the rooms at Plas Maenan are all individually styled and dedicated to your comfort.
They are decorated and furnished in traditional Edwardian country house style with original and quirky touches which add a homely and personal feel. The beds are supremely comfortable, the towels are thick and fluffy and there are ducks to float in the bath.
Mountain View Suites
There are four suites, all with mountain views, each comprising a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom having both walk-in shower and bath, plus a separate sitting room with a high quality hospitality unit providing a sink, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle.
There is a dining area with table and chairs plus comfortable settees and armchairs from which to watch TV, or simply admire the wonderful views. All suites have irons and ironing boards, extra heaters, hair dryers, sewing kits and many other items for your comfort and convenience.
Conwy suite has a queen-sized bed and a conservatory style sitting room giving an enhanced panoramic view of the valley. The dining area pictured is in Denbigh, our double suite.
Caernarfon suite has a four-poster double bed plus two singe beds and the sitting room has French windows to a balcony with a small table and chairs for sitting out when the weather allows.
Criccieth suite has twin beds and the sitting room has French windows to a balcony with a small table and chairs for sitting out when the weather allows.
All double rooms have freeview TV, irons and ironing boards, hair-driers, sewing kits, extra room heaters and many other extras for your comfort and convenience.
Harlech has a double bed and there is a step up to a small en-suite bathroom with a bath and hand-held overbath shower. This is a very pretty room on the side of the guest house and the windows have mountain views.
Powys has a double bed and there is a step up into a small en-suite bathroom with a bath and a hand held overbath shower. This is a pretty room decorated in French style with a view of tiled roofs and trees.
Chirk has a double bed and the en-suite bathroom has both bath and shower. This room is at the back of the house and although there is not much of a view (roofs and trees) it is a very comfortable and stylish room and both bedroom and bathroom are on one level and are more spacious than Harlech or Powys.
Penrhyn has a king-sized bed and the en-suite bathroom has both bath and shower. This room is at the back of the house and although there is not much of a view (roofs and trees) it is a very comfortable and stylish room and both bedroom and bathroom are on one level and are more spacious than Harlech or Powys.
Beaumaris is a delightfully spacious and pretty room with lovely mountain views. It has a standard double bed and the en-suite bathroom has a large bath, bidet and walk-in shower.
Our single room, Deganwy, has exactly the same facilities and extras as double rooms. Single people may of course still occupy a double room at a small supplement.
Deganwy has a more masculine feel with its oak-leaf décor with hand-painted decorative geese and ducks on the window ledges. The room is on the back of the house with limited views but it is spacious as well as stylish with a large bathroom having both bath and shower. The single bed is in an attractive recess and there is a roll-out bed for occasional use so this generously sized room could accommodate another person if required.

We stayed in the Conwy suite. The room itself, the furnishings and cleanliness couldn't be faulted and the view was beyond anything else you will get in the area: the mountain ranges, the forests, the sunsets and the wondrous mist that settled on the forests and lowered itself to blanket the fields - a wonderful place to stay with comfy beds you won't want to get out of. We fell in love with the amazing vista from the terrace and the relaxed elegance of the interior. We were impressed by the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff and the food is magnificent. Overall it is hard to praise Plas Maenan too highly. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Tripadvisor
